Terrain

PLEASE NOTE: Terrain features are only available in non-block projects, if you don’t find the features mentioned below, please check if your project is a non-block project.

Create terrain

existGame Part Panelmiddle clickTerrainicon, and select“create”tab, you can see the button to add terrain:

Click the “Add” button, you can see the related options for adding terrain, you can set the length, width and height of the terrain, as well as the starting point of the terrain.

But a more convenient way is,Drag the dot next to the bounding box directly to resize and position the terrain

Adjust the size and position of the terrain,Click the “Generate Terrain” button, and after a few moments the terrain you want will be generated in the scene.

To simulate the true terrain height, when the terrain is generated, it is only filled to half the height. For example, the specified terrain height is 10, but in the end, only 0~5 heights will generate terrain.

Terrain Brush

After the terrain is generated, modifications to the base terrain are usually required to achieve the final terrain shape. The editor provides a variety of terrain brushes that allow you to modify terrain quickly and easily. existGame Part Panelmiddle clickTerrainicon, and select“edit”tab, you can see the Brush button.

growth brush

The Grow brush can quickly generate new terrain at the mouse.

The growth brush supports the following parameters:

parameter illustrate
shape The shape of the brush. When brushing the terrain, the terrain will be generated according to the shape of the brush. Currently, both spherical and box shapes are supported.
size The size of the brush, the larger the brush, the larger the terrain range generated at one time.
Anchor The relative position of the brush and the terrain surface currently supports bottom alignment, center alignment, and top alignment.

Align bottom:

Flat lock If the plane lock is turned on, the terrain will only be generated on the plane at the height of the current brush; if the plane lock is turned off, the terrain will be generated again on the current generated terrain.
material The material to use when generating new terrain.

reduce brush

Reduce the brush to quickly delete terrain at the mouse.

The parameters that can be set for the reduction brush are similar to those for the growth brush. For details, seegrowth brush

growth brush

Growth brushes can slowly lift and fill existing terrain, often used to make hills, fill depressions, etc.

The growth brush supports the following parameters:

parameter illustrate
shape The shape of the brush will determine the effective range according to the shape of the brush when brushing the terrain. Currently both round and square shapes are supported.
size The size of the brush.
strength Strength affects how quickly the terrain is filled, the higher the strength, the faster the terrain is filled.
Flat lock If plane lock is on, the terrain will only be filled vertically upwards; if plane lock is off, the terrain will be filled in the direction of the brush.
Orientation lock If orientation lock is turned on, the brush orientation cannot be adjusted while the mouse is held down; if orientation lock is turned off, the brush orientation can be adjusted even if the mouse is held down.
material The material to use when generating new terrain.

Erosion Brush

Erosion brushes slowly erase existing terrain and are often used to make caves, canyons, etc.

The parameters that can be set for the erosion brush are similar to those for the growth brush, see detailsgrowth brush

smooth brush

Smoothing brushes can smooth out sharp or drop-off terrain and make terrain transitions more natural.

Flatten brush

The Flatten brush sets the terrain to the same height, and is often used to make flat terrain.

The Flatten brush supports the following parameters:

parameter illustrate
shape The shape of the brush will determine the effective range according to the shape of the brush when brushing the terrain. Currently both round and square shapes are supported.
size The size of the brush.
strength The strength affects the speed of flattening, the higher the strength, the faster the terrain is modified.
Flatten Mode Three flattening modes are supported:
Erase Above Terrain Only: Erases only the terrain above the specified height, without filling the terrain below.
Fill Below Terrain Only: Fills only the terrain below the specified height, without eliminating the terrain above.
Flatten All: Both eliminates terrain above the specified height and fills the terrain below.

paint brush

Paint brushes change the material of the current terrain without affecting the shape of the terrain.
